What needed to be solved.
A startup needed a multi-vendor marketplace that could handle flash sales, real-time inventory updates, and dynamic pricing — without buckling under traffic spikes. Their previous Shopify-based setup couldn't support custom vendor workflows or scale beyond a few hundred concurrent users.
The Approach
How I built the solution.
Built a custom Next.js storefront with server-side rendering for SEO and performance. Implemented Redis for real-time inventory caching and session management, PostgreSQL with optimistic locking for concurrent order processing, and Stripe Connect for multi-vendor payouts. Deployed on AWS with CloudFront CDN and auto-scaling groups to handle traffic surges.
